PMS Monster

The PMS Monster is a personification of the psychological and physical symptoms of the days leading up to menstruation. The psychological discomfort and irritability is embodied through the biomorphic knit, emphasising the idea of isolation within one’s own skin. The sensory artefacts aim to interrogate the stigma and misconception around PMS (Premenstrual Syndrome) in order to redefine social norms and rewire social expectations. By visually externalising what a menstruator goes through cyclically, this piece hopes to empower conversation on what we deem shameful and reflect on the repression of our own psyche.
